About me

As you probably guessed my name is Chris and I really love theme parks. As you will see when you start reading my articles, the definition of “Theme Park” is something some people take very seriously. So, let’s be clear, I love theme parks, amusement parks, ride parks, whatever you want to call them. Without really knowing it, it’s been a passion of mine since I was very young. In my childhood our annual holiday was to Cornwall where all the family live. A definite highlight of these 2-week trips was the visit to a theme park. Cornwall had 2 parks that we loved to visit, but due to time and cost, only 1 park was allowed each year. Both parks are now closed, but my recollection of them are covered in articles in the Closed Parks section, (Dobwalls and Flambards).

My real passion for theme parks developed after my first adult visit to Disneyland Paris. I was already keen on visiting theme parks and was going to local parks in the UK regularly with friends. But Disney awakened me to a “whole new world”, pardon the pun, theme parks with real theming, artificial worlds and attractions that were not all about how fast the roller coaster could go.

I’ve been advising friends and family for years on which theme parks to go to when they visit certain places, how to get the most out of their time and what to see and do. It occurred to me to start writing this down, but I didn’t know how to share it until now. Having built the sister site to this one: www.flyingchris.com, I decided to duplicate my work here and create a home for all my musings on all things theme park related.

This site is a collection of stories, explanations and advice about theme parks, that will hopefully amuse and inform you. Enjoy!
